In July of 2006, The Buchele family moved to Accra, Ghana when Suzanne was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach at Ashesi University.
At Ashesi University, Suzanne taught math and computer science, and during their second year, served as acting Academic Dean. Steve served as a teaching pastor and Elder at Asbury Dunwell Church, led the Youth Group music program at Elim International Family Church and was an intern with The Mission Society.
When the Fulbright completed the summer of 2008, the Bucheles returned to Georgetown, Texas to resume their former lives, but somehow God kept their heart for ministry in Africa, and with the people of Ghana. In fact, Suzanne returned each summer to teach at Ashesi University, and each time she went to Ghana, this calling God has place upon her heart is reaffirmed.
In the spring of 2012 they were consecrated into The Mission Society (now TMS Global) as Career Missionaries, and returned to Ghana February, 2014. Suzanne initially served as the Associate Provost, and was named Provost July, 2016. Steve teaches Leadership One, Giving Voice to Values and attends to the spiritual needs of the students, faculty and staff.
They live on campus where Steve keeps a garden and has strong connections with the people of the township of Berekuso. They love being back in their adopted homeland Ghana, reuniting with old friends and making new ones.
